"How much will it cost?" is the first question everyone has and the one most development companies refuse to answer on their website. Here are the ranges we actually see, what moves a project from one end to the other, and how to avoid paying for things you do not need.

These are ranges for software built properly — tested, secure, documented and yours to keep. You will find quotes far below them; the difference usually turns up later, as rework.
What actually drives the cost
- Number of user roles. A system with only an admin is far cheaper than one where customers, staff, managers and auditors each see something different.
- Money. Anything that takes payments, splits commission, issues GST invoices or runs payroll needs more care and more testing.
- Integrations. Tally, a shipping partner, an SMS gateway, a government portal — each connection is its own small project.
- Data you already have. Moving five years of records out of spreadsheets is real work and should be in the quote.
- Offline and mobile. Software that must work on a weak signal on a budget phone takes more engineering than a desktop-only screen.
How to keep it down
- Start with the one process that hurts most, not the whole business. Launch it, use it, then grow it.
- Ask whether an existing product can be configured instead of building from zero.
- Insist on a fixed price per milestone. An open hourly meter rewards slow work.
- Make sure you own the code. Being locked to one vendor is the most expensive cost of all.
